Retired Master Chief Dan Snyder (SWCC) and his wife Stephanie suffered the devastating loss of their 22-year-old daughter Madilynn who passed away in her sleep in their home on 15 March 2022 from presumed natural causes.
SBCM Snyder recently retired on 1 January 2022 after serving for 31 years in the NSW community. He served at SOCOM and multiple commands throughout the NSW enterprise, including SBT-12, NSWDG, and SBT- 20. Relocating to Tampa, FLA after finishing out his career as the Command Master Chief of Special Boat Team Twenty, Dan and Stephanie were looking forward to the next chapter of their lives together in retirement, spending more time with their kids and grandkids and making up for lost time that was a sacrifice of his 31 years of service.
The loss of Madilynn has been devastating for the Snyder and they are beside themselves with grief. Madilynn was loved by and loved her family very much. She referred to her parents as her best friends and their bond was evident whenever they were together. Madilynn was a beautiful, tender hearted, free spirit who touched everyone who came in contact with her, even if momentarily. She was a bright, promising young woman who was just beginning to venture out into this world, working towards her goals and finding her place in this life. She was an old soul who selfishly gave her time to volunteer in the community, and always be there for her family and friends. Madilynn had wisdom and a deeper spiritual awareness beyond her years; she had a passion for astrology, astronomy and never lost her childlike wonderment of the beauty of this earth and the universe. Her mark on this world, although cut short will not be forgotten. She will be greatly missed, and her legacy will live on in the lives of her family and those who knew her.
