John A. Deltoro

John Anthony Deltoro was born on January 25, 1993, in Fayetteville, North Carolina. He graduated from Grovetown High School in 2011 where he excelled at wrestling and football.

John joined the Navy in January 2012 and graduated from Recruit Training Command Great Lake, Illinois in March 2012. After graduation, he attended Surface Combat Systems Training Command to become an Electronics Technician. He checked into his first command at Special Boat Team 22 in Stennis, Mississippi in February of 2013. While at Special Boat Team 22, he supported Riverine Troop 1 through Unit Level Training, where he quickly became qualified as a Naval Special Warfare Tactical Communicator and Naval Expeditionary Warfare Specialist. In 2015, he was meritoriously advanced to Second Class Petty Officer due to his superior performance. He was selected to support Riverine Troop 4 and deployed to Columbia in support of Counter-Narcotics Operations. In June 2017, he attended Surface Combat Systems Training Command Detachment San Diego for UHF DAMA/WSC-3 technician school. His next command was at Tactical Training Group, Pacific as a Communications Equipment Technician from October 2017 to January 2021. He checked into Tactical Communication Command One in March 2021 where he completed Initial Qualification Training before being assigned to SEAL Team SEVEN.
His personal awards include Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal (3), National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism – Expeditionary Medal, Pistol Marksman. John will be posthumously awarded his second Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal.

John is survived by his wife, Heather; children Caroline, Parker, Luke, Annabelle; his mother, Rachel; his father, Eric, brother, James; Sister, Sarah.
